The Bloom of Evolution

Still not feeling well today so I didn’t know what I was going to photograph until I saw this prickly pear cactus at the side of our house.  They are beginning to bloom in their rich yellows, peaches and hot pinks now.  I was lucky enough to find this one in peach that shows the evolution of the blooms.  The Universe is so obliging.  I have to admit that doing this 366 project has made me more aware of so many things that I used to take for granted and for that I am so grateful.

Enjoy!  Namaste’

  1. Gina you’re amazing. Even though you aren’t feeling well you still manage to take beautiful pictures. It’s fun to see the evolution. Judging by the first two, if I had guessed I’d have thought the bloom was going to be pink. The last two actually look like a salmon colored rose. Quite lovely.

  2. We have a prickly pear at our house. The first year I harvested the fruit. Never again. It’s tasty but leaves your hands full of very small stickers.

    Hey you……..feel better soon.

    1. Yeah, I’m more inclined to buy the prickly pear jelly. Tired of all of those stickers. Darryl gets them all the time when he’s out there. Thanks for the good wishes. It hurts to talk but I can type with no problem 🙂

    1. Yes, the desert has been my home for the past 16 years and there are days when I long for some green grass, a sandy beach and the ocean – any one will do. Thanks for your comments and “likes” of my posts. I’m glad you’re enjoying them. I really do want to adopt a couple of donkeys some day and when I do, I will get in touch with you for some advice.
