Blah Blah Blah

Ever had one of “those” days?  When I saw this tag this morning, I knew it was the perfect photo for how I’m feeling today.  Anybody else feeling the same way or is it just me?  I think my brain needs some chocolate 🙂  Namaste’

I Want to Be More Like Matt

There’s this really cool guy out there, traveling the world, breaking down barriers through humor, love and dance.  Take a look:  The Unstoppable Matt

As for today’s photo, a little Friday humor is in order.  This is called “Getting My Ducks in a Row.”  The weatherman says we might get some rain this weekend.  Color me as happy as these ducks!

I’m off to get a cup of  java now. Happy Friday and Namaste’

Belly Fat Begone!

The reason I’m posting a picture of today’s lunch is that my WS (wonderful spouse) and I are on the South Beach diet.  Actually, I hate the word diet, so I’m going to stick with new, healthy eating plan.  It consists mainly of lean protein, plenty of veggies, some good fats, and basically VERY LOW carbs.  No white sugar at all.  Anything white we just don’t eat.  Now there are many, many, many diets and eating plans out there, but most are hard to stick to and require some real concentration (stress) on what to do and what not to do.  What to mix with what, etc.  These days I’m into simple.  So for us this is rather simple.  Anyway, I’m not promoting any diets here, but my WS suggested I take a picture of his lunch plate, so I did.

There is one thing I can recommend, though, even if you’re not watching your weight.  I’m using My Fitness Pal to record what I eat and how much water I drink.  Truly an eye-opener and it’s totally free.  It keeps count of calories, carbs, fat and protein.  For those of us who love chocolate (and we know who we are, right, Zannyro?) there’s always the Hershey’s sugar-free dark chocolate.  It does the trick for me.  Will I have to cheat once in a while and have a piece of carrot cake or something like that?  Yes!  Once in a while but not often.  I like how I feel now without the carbs/sugar.  Namaste’

Low-fat cottage cheese, grape tomatoes, Hebrew National 97% fat-free beef dogs, and baked zucchini with parmesan, olive oil and garlic.  I had one dog; WS had two 😉

IF WHAT I SAY RESONATES WITH YOU, IT IS MERELY BECAUSE WE ARE BOTH BRANCHES ON THE SAME TREE ~ W. B. Yeats

I meant to post this yesterday but got caught up in efforts to save the donkeys from the roping competition in Van Horn, TX, and I’m happy to say that all of our combined efforts worked.  Take a look: http://www.the7msnranch.com/

A while back I posted a picture of a eucalyptus tree in our back yard that was dying.  At one time it was so beautiful and gave such great shade, but alas, no more.  This is the farewell image; the last time the sun set on our tree.  They came to cut it down and now it’s firewood.  But we asked it to remove its spirit and transfer its energy somewhere else before the chain saws started in.  Bittersweet.  Namaste’

This is such great news! I just had to let you all know. So thanks!

****YOU DID IT!****

The donkey roping competition on June 23 has been cancelled because of public input and the number of complaints received.

Congratulations, everyone!

For the love of donkeys, thank you all for being a part of stopping this.
I have personally spoken to the sheriff’s office in Culbertson County, Texas, at 12:50 p.m. Mountain time today. According to the dispatcher I spoke to (Badge #361), Sheriff Carrillo says the donkey roping event on June 23 has been cancelled because of public input and the number of complaints received. We did it!”Let’s keep pushing for these donkeys to get away from their owner.

I Wouldn’t Eat These “Noodles”

On my way home today I had to stop at the supermarket and this display caught my eye.  I guess the photo really needs no description.  It’s time for pool parties and summer fun.  The weather is just right … 100 degrees in the shade.  No, I’m NOT kidding.

These “noodles” aren’t good for eating but they’re sure a lot of fun in the pool.  Splish, Splash!  Namaste’

Reblogging this again in case you would like to make a difference. You can!

Here is the linkWorld championship Team Donkey Roping, Texas June 23rd and June 24, 2012.

Copied and pasted from the link above!

The Van Horn Texas Chamber of Commerce is hosting an event that features donkey roping.Donkey roping is an extremely cruel ‘sport’ where the donkey is shocked with a cattle prod until he tries to run away, once he is running people on horseback run the donkey down, throwing a rope around it’s neck, and another one around its rear legs. Once roped the donkey is then stretched between two horses. Broken bones and death are all too common during these events. And that is the physical harm done, most donkeys take years to recover, if still alive, from the emotional trauma of abuse.

My own grandson has autism and the first time he saw a “roping” donkey said he knew how the donkey felt…..alone, hurt, sad…
