Do Birds Blink?

I shot this today while visiting my parents.  We took a little walk around the grounds and I heard the cooing of the doves.  Found them up in the rafters and zoomed in a little  so as not to scare them.  I think these are mourning doves and I love the sound they make.  I stood there for quite a while watching them and noticed they never blinked.  Do birds blink … ever?  Namaste’

Birds blink faster than we can see. They have three eyelids.

That is a good question! Some of our do and some don’t.

Yes birds blink… very very fast… I have some photos that when processing them I have found a problem with the eye… I’ve caught them blinking… lovely photo… that camera really is good .. but it takes a good operator and that you are…

    1. Many thanks, Rob. As always, I appreciate your comments.

  4. That’s a good question, I never watched one long enough, that would be intersting to find out, if they do bink. That gives a whole new meaning, to keeping an eye on things.

    1. Several people have told me that they do blink … it’s just so fast that we can’t see them do it. It does give a whole new meaning to keeping an eye on things 🙂
