Merry & Bright

Well, dear ones, it’s almost that magical day.  Here it is Christmas Eve in southern Arizona.  The temperature is 50 degrees, which suits me just fine.  There are lots of people trying to make it home for Christmas today and I wish them Godspeed on their journeys.

Let the love, peace and joy of this night increase the light in your lives today and always, wherever you are.  Merry Christmas, have fun, and spread the joy!  Namaste’

Candlestick

Well, today was the day when we get the house together to prepare for Christmas guests.  Will Santa be one of them?  I expect he will.

While walking by the dining room table I noticed the sunlight streaming through one of the candlesticks and lighting it up.  It’s hard to see the red candle because there’s so much light.  I just love it.  I’m using the palm tree candlesticks for Christmas dinner.  Maybe it’s a subliminal thing that I’d like to be at the beach with palm trees swaying and an umbrella drink in my hand.  LOL.  Namaste’

A Cup of Joy

Sometimes joy comes in the form of a hot cup of coffee and a few minutes of alone time during a hectic holiday season.  Namaste’

Winter Solstice Baby – Happy Birthday!

Besides being the winter solstice (shortest day of the year and a special alignment this year of all the planets in our solar system), this day is even more special to me because it’s my daughter’s birthday.  So I want to take this opportunity to honor her.  She’s my baby, my youngest, who turns 41 today.  Amazing where all the time went.  Lots of beautiful, wonderful memories of moments we shared together.

This picture was taken when she was three and it’s one of my favorites.  So I took a picture of this picture and added a little winter solstice effect.  As you can see by the color of her hair and that look in her eyes, she is not one to be messed with.  Trust me, I know. LOL.

Hope you’re all having a spectacular day!  Namaste’

Mele Kalikimaka

Several years ago we were in Maui for Christmas and it was just fantastic! Loved the beaches, the water, the balmy breezes, the sound of the waves lulling us to sleep at night and shopping.  But the coolest thing was that I learned how to say Merry Christmas the way the islanders do … so here’s my MELE KALIKIMAKA to  you and yours.

WS and I love to go out some evenings and get some of that self-serve frozen yogurt.  It’s so good and you can put any toppings on it that you want.  Well … there’s a new place in town owned by an islander from Hawaii.  So what did we find out in front of his shop?  Santa in a hammock under the palm trees.  Now THAT’S  my idea of a great Christmas.  Hey, Santa, is there room in that hammock for me?  LOL.

Oldie or Not?

I couldn’t resist getting this shot today as I pulled into the parking lot of a store.  When I realized how many cars were actually in the parking lot, I decided to get the heck out of there, thinking about the long lines inside at the cash registers.  Did I mention that I absolutely despise Christmas shopping?

Anyway, below is the car.  I believe it’s a vintage Ford because it has our state’s classic license plate, reserved for cars manufactured at least 25 years ago.  I think this one qualifies.

Almost to the end of our 366 project.  Can’t wait to see how my fellow 366’ers finish up this year.  Namaste’

My Very Own Sun Dog

What’s a sun dog, you say?  The technical explanation is best left to someone else (if you know, I welcome your comments).  I just happened to look up in the sky today,  as the clouds are coming in for some more rain.  Then I noticed how the light was reflecting from the sun to the clouds.  Our meteorologist has talked about this on numerous occasions and I finally got a picture of one. Oh, yeah, and the birds are all hanging out on the wires again.  Maybe they’re just getting some extra sun before it went completely behind the clouds.

Twinkle, Twinkle

I love the light … any kind of light … with the exception of those curly energy-saving light bulbs.  But that’s a story for another day.  So for now I’ll enjoy one of our window decorations.  Little tiny white light bulbs … love them!  Namaste’

Silly Signs

I stopped watching the news two days ago.  Just can’t take it and I don’t need to say why.  You all know.  I’m sure you feel it, too.

But today my husband and I went out to breakfast.  Needed to break the routine.  We tried a restaurant we’d never been to before and the food was wonderful.

I love places that are different and it’s always a bonus if the food is good 🙂  But this place had some of the coolest signs and I hope they bring a smile for you.  Take a look.

(Only 15 days to go and the 366 Project is over).  Just sayin’  Last Monday I did a photo shoot of 17 horses and took 144 photos of them.  Horses are hard to do; they just don’t sit and stay like our canine friends but I feel I got some good shots.  I’m still editing and when the final edits are complete, then I order prints and make photo note cards.  The owner of the stables is going to give these cards to her clients as a gift.  I have a LOT of work to do.  Wish me luck.  Namaste’

Hope He Has a Sense of Humor

When I woke this morning, I found myself thinking of the folks in Newtown.  All I could do was join the collective of people around the world who are praying for those families. I know that we are all sending them our love and light.  Let’s not stop.

Since this is my blog, I feel like I need to say what I’m thinking about the media frenzy that surrounds this tragedy.  No matter how many details they find out or speculations they choose to post on their tickers, nothing will bring those victims back.  My question is this … why can’t the brave, REAL journalists out there share with us the stories of good that are/will happen now?  I hope we will get to see some of that.

Wanting to feel a little more light-hearted today, I happened to walk by the window and saw Santa trying to get up on our roof.  And since it’s raining, I hope he has a sense of humor.  I fear he is water-logged for sure, but he will survive.  He does every year.  Namaste’
