Some people say that I can find a picture in the strangest of places. Well I guess that’s because I seem to always have my camera close by. Some people also say that my camera has become an extension of my arm. Hmmm … this picture is probably evidence of that. Sitting by the fire the other night with an almost empty glass of Chardonnay with my feet up on the hearth. Hmmm … camera was in my right hand. Hmmm … fire + wine + relaxation + camera = picture.
Yep, guess I’m guilty of guilty pleasures. Ha! Namaste’
Wouldn’t you just love to go back to the days when you didn’t have to worry about what you ate? Not a care in the world about getting enough of this vitamin or that vitamin? Or not worrying about low-carb, low-fat, or high protein, Paleo, green coffee bean, etc. diets? Well, I’m here to say that this sign took me back to those carefree days this morning. It hangs in our favorite breakfast place … Jethro’s.
When I was a young and skinny kid, my best friend and I would scrounge up enough nickels and dimes to go to the local food store and buy a Pepsi in a glass bottle and a package of Hostess cupcakes. Of course, that was back in the day when nothing had high fructose corn syrup. Yeah, that was a lot of sugar but we burned it off riding our bikes all day long. I miss those days. I still like Pepsi but don’t drink it much. If I do, it’s their throwback version, made with sugar instead of HFCS. As for the cupcakes, well, they just don’t taste the same as they did back then, so I don’t eat them very often either.
Hope you’re having a great weekend. If the Falcons and the Ravens win their games today, we’ll have a “bird bowl” on Super Bowl Sunday. Personally I’m a fan of the 49’ers AND the Patriots, so if they win today, (and both teams are favored to win) I’ll find myself in quite a quandry. Yikes! Namaste’
This week’s photo challenge from Word Press is BEYOND. This image might make one wonder what’s beyond that rainbow. Perhaps the second rainbow? Or is there really a pot of gold? I took this last summer during one of our monsoon rains. I look forward to that every year. It always brings some new photographic adventures for me.
I don’t know if I’ll take on the challenge every week but I might. Guess you’ll have to stay tuned to find out. Namaste’ and have a blessed weekend.
I have to say I was impressed today with my new camera. This photo was taken looking up at the ceiling of a covered patio (not ours, thank God) and I noticed this red wasp doing its thing up there. Perfect time for my 42x zoom lens! As you can probably imagine, I didn’t spend a lot of time there after I got the shot. I’m just not that crazy about being around creatures that sting, bite, snap, etc.
So this makes me pretty happy with my new camera. More adventures to come. Click photo to enlarge. Namaste’
I took this shot of Foxy when she was just falling asleep. I was sitting across the room looking at all the goodies (and reading the manual) on my new camera when I noticed her there. So I took the shot. This is the first image that I’m posting using my new Nikon Coolpix P510. And I did add a softening effect because there was harsh light in the room.
WS got it for me as an early Christmas gift and yes, he bought the red one!!!!! So thanks to WS and a fellow blogger/photographer (you know who you are, Miss Z), who introduced me to it, I love this new camera. It has a 42X zoom lens that I’m still getting used to, but this will make me use my tripod more often. I love the lcd display that tilts. This will make for some interesting shots for me … one who has bad knees and misses some of those on the ground shots. And this will be a great camera to take on vacation.
Will I stop using my trusty Olympus DSLR? Not on your life, but now I have other options. I think my camera bag just got heavier 🙂 Namaste’
