It’s no secret that I’m a dog lover. I’ve been meaning to post this photo I took when we visited hubby’s sister in Nevada. She and I went to the dog park in Henderson with Daisy, of course. And there I met Gunner; an incredibly sweet Golden Retriever. He had just rolled in the dry grass and was feeling pretty content with himself. And what Golden Retriever doesn’t love their ball? I think he is so cute!
Gunner reminds me so much of our Goldie, who went to the Rainbow Bridge several years ago. She was a Golden-Duck Toller Retriever mix and such a sweetheart. We rescued her from the Golden Rescue in Phoenix. She didn’t trust humans very much when we first got her, but with love and patience, we managed to sneak into her heart when she wasn’t looking. She loved to swim, so our pool became her pool and the rest is history.
Goldie Girl, wherever you are … meet Gunner. You could be twins 🙂 Namaste’
Today’s photo is a photo of a photo. I found it while cleaning out some other photos and it sure made me smile as the memories came flooding back.
Meet Taz (left), and Jingles (right). We got Jingles from a “backyard” Golden Retriever breeder back in 1993. We brought her home at eight weeks old and named her Jingles because it was in December, just a couple days before Christmas. As she grew up, we decided she needed a buddy, so we went to the SPCA and found Taz, a Chocolate Lab/Brittany Spaniel mix. You can’t see it in this photo, but she had a while blaze on her chest. So cute.
In this photo, Taz is looking a little sad because she finished her rawhide chip before Jingles and now she’s wanting that one, too. Taz was our very first rescue and there have been three more since then. As far as we’re concerned, it’s the only way to go now. Too many of God’s creatures need good homes.
Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Namaste’
There’s an absolutely wonderful lady named Valerie who does some of my print processing. She really knows how to make my photos look their best and I love her for that.
Valerie is also a fellow dog lover who rescued a deaf Great Dane named Jinx, whom I got to meet today for the first time. He’s only seven months old and already dwarfs Valerie (as you can see) when she’s sitting down. She says he’s truly a gentle giant and thinks he’s a lap dog. Yikes!
Not being able to hear commands, she has taught him hand signals so that he will be safe. I got my share of Jinx doggie kisses and took lots of fun pictures. Here are just a few. What a lover dog! Namaste’
Once in a while Foxy gets into a really “I’ll show you!” mood and decides to make herself at home on the humans’ bed. This was one of those moments and I was lucky enough to have the camera handy. She is really a very good dog and getting older so if she finds comfort, so be it. Click photo to enlarge. Namaste’
While out today picking up dog food for our four-legged canine “kids” Foxy and Daisy, we decided to check out the local shelters and rescue agencies adoptees. They are all so lovable and cute and it’s sure tempting to take in another couple of rescues. These are just some of the adorable dogs looking for loving, forever homes. Send them all your love and wishes, OK? Namaste’ Click to enlarge images.
