Silhouette

In response to today’s blog post prompt, I chose this silhouette of a saguaro cactus. When these grow in the desert, they are almost always in close proximity to a Palo Verde or Mesquite tree, as in this image.

Everyone needs a buddy, including the might Saguaro. Have a blessed and beautiful weekend!

A Rare Sight

It’s a rare sight around here to be able to photograph the sun.  There was just enough cloud cover last night to let it shine through without burning my eyes (I hope).  Today is all about indoor activities, like cleaning out some files, because we’re supposed to hit 113 or higher today.

I heard that Las Vegas, where it will be even hotter than us, has set up temporary cooling stations around the city and in Henderson.  Bravo for you guys!  It might save some folks from heat stroke, especially the homeless.  Stay cool … namaste’

Birds of Prey

Today’s photo is of a couple of Harris hawks (are they really a couple?) calmly looking for their next meal.  I thought they would make a good subject for Halloween, so I added a couple of special effects.  Let the “haunting” begin.  Namaste’

Through the Screen

Today’s photo is of my lucky bamboo, sitting on my kitchen window sill.  It’s growing like crazy so I thought I’d just shoot a picture of it … no staging.  I liked the silhouette of the leaves.

I met with the Gang of Six this afternoon – the guys and ladies from our grief support group.  We get together once a month now on our own and I feel so blessed to know them all.  We all trust each other so much that we can say anything and no one judges.  Wouldn’t it be nice if all relationships were like this?  I’m like this plant … lucky.  Namaste’

Shining Through

When I woke up this morning there was not a cloud that I could see.  Since about 10:30 a.m. we’ve had some pretty hefty thunderstorms.  I probably won’t complain about not having any rain for a while 🙂

WS loves bright blue skies and sunshine and I do, too, but some days I just like to have this for a change.  I think it provides a nice contrast and isn’t that what life’s about sometimes?Namaste’
